Your journey starts with your arrival at Golden Hostel in Dong Van. Upon arriving at the hostel, you’ll be greeted by our friendly team and you can unwind in the comfort of our space, setting the ideal tone for the adventure to come.

Day 2

Starting fresh every morning, our local guide leads you through breathtaking terraced fields and hidden villages inhabited by a range of ethnic communities. Experience colourful ethnic groups and the unforgettable thrill of navigating winding mountain roads. You will return to Golden Hostel around 5pm to bring the tour to an end.

Dong Van > Thien Huong > Dong Van
Distance: 15-17km

Following your breakfast at Golden Hostel, you begin your adventure at 8:00AM with a car transfer to the starting point. You will trek through the stunning Dong Van Karst Plateau, a UNESCO Global Geopark. This area in Vietnam’s northernmost province boasts towering limestone cliffs, vast mountains, and deep canyons, all set in a refreshing, temperate climate ideal for exploring.

Explore Dong Van History & Geology

Discover the rich history as you pass by one of the largest French-built fortresses from the 1920s, overlooking Dong Van town from its highest peak. The landscapes are as fascinating as they are unique, creating a memorable backdrop for the day. 

Visit Border Villages & Learn About Ethnic Cultures

Stroll along the border with China, visiting remote villages where you’ll meet H’mong and Tay ethnic communities. Here, you’ll have the chance to see and understand the lives, traditions, and unique aspects of these resilient mountain cultures.

Discover Thien Huong Village

One of the highlights of the day will be Thien Huong, a 100-year-old Tay village tucked into the mountainside. The traditional Tay homes and peaceful ambiance make it a wonderful spot to absorb the heritage and beauty of this area.

Arrive back at Golden Hostel in Dong Van around 5:00PM, wrapping up an exhilarating day of exploration and cultural discovery.

With the various tour packages on offer, the itineraries and items included can vary – however, all include the below, unless stated otherwise:
– Free 1 night in Ha Giang before starting the trek
– The local guide/driver
– Bus tickets or private car (in full package)*
– Nights in homestay or hostel through trek*

– Tickets for attractions en route

With Cozy Hostel, you will be able to safely store your luggage or whatever items you do not need to take with you at our hostel in Ha Giang town. This is where we will both begin and complete the loop. With this in mind, it is recommended and important to pack light.

Essential items include:
– Small bag or backpack for clothes & daily necessities
– Light clothing
– Walking boots or trainers
– Waterproof jacket or raincoat for the colder areas or wet periods
– Sunscreen
– Sunglasses
– Swimming suit/bikini/trunks
– Mosquito repellent (if you need)
– Cash for drinks (excluding water) and personal expenses

Light luggage or a small backpack is recommended for the tour, as you will be trekking daily and need to be able to endure carrying your bag throughout.

Once you have been collected from your chosen pick up location, you will be driven to Cozy Hotel (No. 16 Đại Lộ Hữu Nghị Street) in Ha Giang town. This is where the trek will start and finish.

Yes, dietary preferences like vegan or vegetarian can be accommodated if notified in advance.
